Maritime and Insolvency Talk

A Challenge or An Opportunity ?

The maritime industry has been hit in recent times with a spate of insolvency related incidents. These include the collapse of Hin Leong Trading (Pte) Ltd, Singapore’s biggest independent oil trader, the 2016 bankruptcy of South Korea’s Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd and the appointment of judicial managers over ship-builders Otto Marine Ltd. The panelists will aim to give the audience an understanding of the various insolvency-related mechanisms at play, and the commercial considerations to be taken into account by various parties, such as shipping and insolvency lawyers, liquidators, and banks, when an insolvency-related event occurs.
